What Do You Want

As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him. Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!" The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!" Jesus stopped and called them. "What do you want me to do for you?" he asked. "Lord," they answered, "we want our sight." Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him. (Matthew 20:29-34 NIV) What do you want me to do for you? I think this is a fair question for all of us to answer. This is the question that Jesus asked the two blind men who we're trying to get His attention. Their answer - "We want our sight." If God we're to ask you "What is it that you want" - could you answer that? James says that we have not because we ask amiss. I think at times we go to go with a bunch of generalities when God is asking us to get specific about our wants and needs in needs in life. People will say to me, "But I don't want to pray for the wrong things." My answer to that is that God promises to fulfill the desires of our heart and if our desires are wrong - He can change them. So... in response to Jesus' question to you "What do you want me to do today" - just come to Him with your specifics and trust God to come through for you in regards to your needs."
