Colossians 2:6-7 (MSG) 2:6 My counsel for you is simple and straightforward: Just go ahead with what you've been given. You received Christ Jesus, the Master; now live him. 7 You're deeply rooted in him. You're well constructed upon him. You know your way around the faith. Now do what you've been taught. School's out; quit studying the subject and start living it! And let your living spill over into thanksgiving.
Some people never grow up in the ways of the Lord. I watch their lives and wonder when they will finally “get it.” Yes, they have their moments of victory but it seems that the ways of the world just keep popping up in their walk and lifestyle. They will go strongly with the Lord for a while and then will fall into some old habit or sin bringing themselves down again. Paul’s admonition here is that its time to get with it. It’s time to really live the life that God has for you. You’ve been trained and instructed in the ways of the Lord – but it is now time to live it out. It’s time to grow up and be the Christian God wants you to be.
