I had a God-moment this morning while eating my oatmeal. (If the truth be known, if you are actively look for God-moments during your day - you will find them).
So, here was my God-moment: I turned on Matt Rebman’s album “10,000 Reasons” while I was eating my oatmeal and reading the newspaper. Then it happened, my God-moment. Matt Rebman’s song “Your Grace Finds Me” began to play and I started to listen to the words. (You can find it on Spotify or Pandora – please listen to it).
Notice the chorus…
From creation to the cross
Then from the cross into eternity
Your great grace finds me
Your great grace finds me
There in the darkest night
There in the sweetest songs of victories
Your grace finds me
Your grace finds me
For whatever reason, God used that moment to speak to my soul about God’s grace in my life.
In my lifetime - no matter what I’ve done or how I felt – God’s grace always found me.
I didn’t deserve or earn it and yet God’s grace came to me.
While listening to the song a couple of times I began to reflect on my own life and and a “Thanksgiving To God” rose from the well of my heart.
For the past few weeks I’ve been trying to sort out some things with God in my daily prayers. I’ve been asking Him some hard questions about some situations I’m dealing with. And… every time I pray I hear God say, “I’ve got this!”
My problem is this - I start to worry again. I have to remind myself over and over the ‘fishing” scripture in the Bible - 1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV) 7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
A number of years ago I took my oldest daughter fishing in my little air inflated raft. (She was probably around 5-6 years old). As we got out in the middle of the lake I got her fishing pole and bait all ready. The problem was this – she would not leave the bait in the water long enough to catch any fish. In fact, I was dealing with her so much that I never even got my pole in the water.
Like a good fisherman – we need to have some patience. When we give our problems and leave them with Him. We can’t reel it back in every time we lack faith. We must allow Him to work it out in His timing and with His great Sovereignty.
It doesn’t matter about your past – about what mistakes or failures that you might have had to deal with. It only matters what Christ has done for you on the cross. His grace is sufficient. It always has been and it always will be.
It doesn’t matter what trial you might be going through right now. His grace is still sufficient. He is there for you right now.
I like what the prophet Isaiah wrote:
Isaiah 33:2 (NKJV) 2 O LORD, be gracious to us; We have waited for You…
Let God cover you with His grace today. Let Him wrap His arms of love and compassion around what ever you might be facing and He will give you the strength to handle everything that is before you right now.
