When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” (Exodus 13:17 NLT)
We often wonder why life is so hard and why we can't take any shortcuts in life. We wonder why God allows things to be so difficult or why He allows us to go through so much suffering. The answer is simple but often overlooked or ignored. It is this: God allows us to go through much difficulty because it is in those hard times that we are being built up for the battles ahead and so God can also build His character in your life. We are mostly interested in the destination and God is more interested in how we handle the journey. With the Israelites, an 11 day journey ended up taking 40 years. They weren't ready for the Promise Land and they weren't ready for the battles and giants that they would face in the future. Be assured that whatever difficulty you might be going through right now is all in the Lord's hands and that He is preparing you for some awesome victories ahead. In this hard place you are now being trained how to be a man or woman of spiritual warfare and you are being trained in the enemies tactics and deceptions. This hard place and difficulty will only make your stronger and stronger. God has so much more for you in the future and you are being prepared for it right now.
